History:
The Rodney Michael's strain of Red Junglefowl has the scentific classification of Gallus Gallus Murghi and originate from several different locales in India. Birds from Cornell University, Rogers' Game in Sherbert, NY and Al Hinkle all went into the mix to create this strain of birds. It has to be said that the birds from Al Hinkle were of the San Diego Zoo strain and could have contained domestic genes depending on when the birds were obtained from the zoo. This strain goes through "eclipse moult" which for many is the first physical marker that is looked for concerning pure birds. The eclipse moult is one of the first characteristics to be lost when domestic genes are introduced to pure Junglefowl. They are quite typey Junglefowl and exibit all the necessary traits to be considered pure.
About my birds:
I received my Rodney Michael Red Jungle fowl from a private breeder recently on March 1, 2007. I am currently breeding them in the 2007 season and am also using the Rodney Michaels cock over my San Diego Zoo strain hens.
Above is a pictue of my 2006 hatch Rodney Michaels pullet. She is currently breeding in the 2007 season.
